My Approach
While both genetics and environment play a role in psychological distress, the problems that typically bring people to therapy are the ones rooted in negative past experiences. Whether those experiences have been consistently traumatic, only subtly distressing, or even fleeting, they can shape how we relate to ourselves and others. Negative experiences can result in emotional pain but they don't define your future. The purpose of therapy is to help you change, recover and grow, empowering you to move beyond the constraints of past hardships.
How we relate to others and ourselves also determines how we feel. If you are self-critical, perfectionistic, have low self-esteem, and are filled with self-doubt, you undoubtably feel awful about yourself and may have problems in your relationships. Together, we can work toward improving how you feel about yourself and others by changing your thought patterns, relational patterns, and emotional well-being.
Therapy just for you
You are one-of-a-kind, unlike anyone else in the world. So applying a cookie-cutter approach to therapy doesn't make sense. Drawing from my training in evidence-based therapies, I integrate a variety of therapy approaches creatively in a way that is helpful to you and your unique circumstances. Should you choose me as your therapist, there are different ways we might work together. In the safety of a therapeutic environment, together we might help you work through past hurts or trauma so you feel less burdened by old wounds. Alternatively, we might help you modify your thought patterns and ways you relate to others, or perhaps help empower you to use your voice when previously you didn’t even know you had one! Additionally, we might explore strategies for navigating a toxic environment or effecting positive changes within it, ensuring you feel empowered and in control of your surroundings.

You may not realize it, but you come to therapy with strengths and positive qualities that have carried you through life’s challenges thus far. Together, let’s help you recognize and utilize those strengths in the context of your therapy and then in your general life. With compassion and empathy as our compass let’s embark together on the journey towards self-discovery and healing. Whether you are facing anxiety, depression, relational trauma, an eating disorder, or relationship challenges, know that you don’t have to navigate these struggles alone.
